There are three virtual number types on Inbox Number. One-time activation numbers receive a single code for one service. Short-term US rentals hold a number for hours or days. Monthly numbers stay yours while you renew, in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Choose by how long the account will need to text you.
Availability: monthly numbers (US, CA, UK, AU) can be ordered now. The OTP marketplace (one-time activations and short-term US rentals), eSIM data plans and proxies are coming soon; you can join their waitlists on the product pages.
Which virtual number types are there?
Inbox Number has monthly numbers available now, and one-time activations and short-term rentals coming soon in the OTP marketplace. They differ by duration, price model and best use.

How do you pick the right type?
Ask whether the account will ever text you again. If yes, monthly. If you need a few codes soon, a rental. If you need just one code, one-time activation.

Is a virtual number the same as a SIM or eSIM?

Frequently asked questions
Can I switch types later?
Yes, you can buy a different type at any time. A one-time number can't be converted into a monthly one.
Which type is cheapest?
For one code, one-time activation. For ongoing use, a monthly or annual number.
Do all types have a private inbox?
Yes. Messages appear only in your dashboard.
Do services accept all types?
Each service decides. Acceptance isn't guaranteed for any type.
