Part of our guide: Virtual Phone Numbers for SMS Verification: Everything You Need to Know
Some people prefer to pay online with cryptocurrency, for example because they already hold it. This guide shows how to buy a virtual number with crypto on Inbox Number, and what to watch out for. It's part of our SMS verification guide.
How does paying with crypto work on Inbox Number?
Inbox Number uses a wallet. You top it up with crypto, and then purchases such as numbers and one-time codes are paid from the wallet balance.
The wallet and balance page explains the wallet. The currencies and networks available are shown at the top-up step; check them there, as they can change.
How do you buy a virtual number with crypto, step by step?
Create an account, start a crypto top-up, send the exact amount on the network shown, wait for confirmation, then buy your number from the balance.
- Create an account at Inbox Number with your email or Google sign-in.
- Open your wallet and choose to top up with crypto.
- Pick the amount and currency. Choose enough to cover the number you want; see pricing.
- Send the payment. Copy the address and amount exactly, and make sure you use the network shown.
- Wait for confirmation. Blockchain confirmations can take from a minute to longer during busy periods. The balance updates when the payment is confirmed.
- Buy your number. Choose a monthly number in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia, or a one-time number for a single code.
What should you check before sending crypto?
Check the network, the exact amount and the address before you send. Crypto transfers can't be reversed, so mistakes are costly.
- Network: sending a token on the wrong network can mean lost funds.
- Amount: exchange and network fees may reduce what arrives; send enough to cover the invoice.
- Address: copy and paste, then double-check the first and last characters.
- Time limit: some checkouts expire; start a new one if yours has.
Which number should you buy with your balance?
Buy a monthly number if you'll use it repeatedly and a one-time number if you need a single code. Annual plans are 25% off.
| Need | Option |
|---|---|
| Ongoing inbox | Monthly number |
| One verification code | One-time number |
| Several codes in a few days | Short-term US rental |
| Lower yearly cost | Annual plan, 25% off |
Does paying with crypto make you anonymous?
No. Paying with crypto changes the payment method, not your accountability. Your account, orders and blockchain transactions are still recorded, and Inbox Number's rules and the law still apply.

What if a crypto payment doesn't show up?
First check the transaction on a block explorer to see if it's confirmed. If it confirmed on the right network but your balance didn't update, contact support with the transaction ID.
Underpayments or payments on an unsupported network may need manual review. Keep your transaction ID handy.
Can you use the balance for other products?
Yes. The wallet balance pays for monthly numbers, renewals and one-time numbers, and for eSIM data plans and proxies as they become available.
